MS Noordam is the fourth and last of the Vista-class vessels, all named for the four compass points. Noordam is named for the northern compass point, and was christened on February 22, 2006, in New York City by the actress Marlee Matlin. Her sister ships are MS Oosterdam, MS Westerdam, MS Zuiderdam and P&O Cruises’ MS Arcadia (originally ordered by the HAL, but sold to P&O).
Passengers onboard Noordam will not be dissimilar to those that sailed onboard the Oosterdam and the Volendam before her. The majority of the guests especially those on the open jaw voyages will tend to be loyal HAL Mariners, ex North America, and those over 60 years old. They will tend to be sophisticated, well-educated, well-heeled and traditional. The transit voyages tend to attract more Australians.
