Golden Princess is a Grand-class cruise ship that entered service in 2001. Her sister ships are Grand Princess and Star Princess. Golden Princess will make her debut down under when she comes in the 2015/2016 cruise season.
Golden Princess will be the fifth Princess ship to be based in Australia and will be the largest ship based in Melbourne. Golden Princess’ maiden summer deployment, which will increase Princess Cruises’ capacity in the Victorian capital by more than 20 per cent, will also increase the cruise line’s local capacity by 35 per cent in 2015 compared to 2014. This further consolidates Princess Cruises’ position as Australia’s biggest cruise line with Australians now spending more nights onboard Princess Cruises’ ships than on any other line.
With five of its 18-ship fleet cruising down under, Princess Cruises ranks Australia as its biggest market outside the United States. For the first time, all ships (Sun, Dawn, Sea, Diamond and Golden Princess) will offer $AUD pricing onboard as they deliver a program of more than 80 cruises from Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne, Fremantle and Auckland.
And like the other four Aussie-based ships, Golden Princess is likely to attract a broad range of Australians from couples in their 30’s to 50’s to multi-generational family groups.
