Costa Deliziosa is the flagship of the Costa brand and was the first cruise ship to be named in Dubai, an Arab city. Out of reverence to the Muslim state, fig juice rather than champagne, was used to christen it.
Costa Deliziosa is a hybrid of the Vista and Spirit-class ships, whose sister ship is the Costa Luminosa.
Costa Cruises is an Italian company and hence is likely to carry a majority of Italian passengers, with a smattering of other nationalities. Languages required to service this ship include Italian, English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish.
Costa Deliziosa visited New Zealand for the first time in 2012 on its first round the world voyage.
