Named for the city of Amsterdam in northern Holland, the ms Amsterdam is the third ship to bear the name of the Dutch capital in Holland America Line’s over 135-year history. Like its sister-ship, the Rotterdam, she features a multi-million dollar art collection and includes a whimsical “Astrolabe”, a commissioned signature sculpture soaring in a three-story atrium.
Amsterdam is a regular visitor to New Zealand on its round the world cruises and carries with it many guests from North America.
Holland America does not allow liquor to be brought onboard the ship and when it is purchased in port or onboard the ship’s duty free shop, it will be retained until the last day of the cruise. Wine and champagne are however allowed, with a corkage fee of USD18.
