Celebrity Solstice is the first of the Solstice-class ships by Celebrity Cruises. At the time of her launch, she was the largest cruise ship ever built.
Celebrity Solstice’s sister ships include Celebrity Equinox, Celebrity Eclipse, Celebrity Silhouette and Celebrity Reflection. The Solstice-class is said to be so popular with passengers that Celebrity’s older fleet will all be “Solsticised” as best as possible. This includes Celebrity Millennium, a ship familiar to passengers down under.
Introduced to Australasia in December 2012, Celebrity Solstice is a well loved ship down under and continues to operate a series of 12 and 14 night open-jaw sailings between Sydney and Auckland this season. North Americans have a strong brand association with the Celebrity brand and tend to make up a good proportion of her voyages to New Zealand especially on the open jaws.
Upon embarkation, passengers are allowed to bring onboard a maximum of two bottles of wine per stateroom. When consumed on a shipboard restaurant, each bottle is subject to a USD 25 corkage charge. All other types of alcohol are not allowed onboard and will be confiscated and returned at the end of the cruise. All alcohol purchased in port will be held until the last day of the cruise.
